Digital Signage
Signage players repeatedly read media files throughout playback. Storage selection should account for sustained read stability, content capacity, player compatibility and how often content is updated.
Platform Requirements
Signage storage is shaped by two conditions: repeated playback with little idle time, and a capacity set by the deployed media library.
Continuous Playback
- Media content may be played repeatedly, with limited idle time between playback cycles
- Storage access is predominantly sustained and sequential during normal playback
- Playback stability is validated across representative playback cycles
Deployed Capacity
- Storage capacity is determined primarily by the deployed media library
- Content-update frequency may alter storage requirements over the program lifecycle
- Screen resolution, content format and site-specific media requirements may result in different deployed configurations
Applicable Memory & Storage
Confirm memory and the storage interface against the player board before setting the deployed capacity.
Memory
- DDR3 / DDR4 / DDR5 SO‑DIMM
- DDR3 / DDR4 / DDR5 U‑DIMM
- Modules are qualified at JEDEC operating settings unless the program defines otherwise.
Storage
- 2.5″ SATA III
- M.2 PCIe 3.0
Qualification Process
For signage, the focus is read stability across representative playback cycles at the capacity intended for deployment.
Requirements Definition
Platform configuration, interfaces, operating conditions and lifecycle are identified.
Configuration Selection
Form factors are selected against the target board and program requirements.
Sample Verification
Initial samples are evaluated before configuration approval.
Platform Validation
Compatibility and stability are verified on the target platform.
Qualification
The configuration is approved against program requirements.
Production Control
Production runs under established quality-control procedures, with change review where included in the program scope.
Digital Signage Qualification Priorities
Signage priorities typically extend from player compatibility to configuration control across rollout phases and deployed sites.
Platform Configuration Review
Provide the player specification, storage interface, media-library requirements, content profile, operating conditions and deployment scale. SIMORCHIP engineering will review the applicable memory and storage configuration and define the recommended qualification scope.
